Measuring For Your Table Cover:
Rectangle - Oblong
and Oval Tables:
Measure length and width. (Don't forget to add the leaves to your
measurements). Decide on the length of the desired drop. The drop is the
part of the tablecloth that hangs from the edge of the table. This
measurement must be added to length and width for both ends and both
sides. If you want an 8" drop, add 16" to the length and width
measurement of your table. This is your tablecloth size. If you want a
15" formal drop, add 30" to the length and width. This is your
tablecloth size. It is not improper for the drop to touch chairs. The
longer the drop, the more formal the setting.
There may not be the perfect size cloth for your table. You may need to
select a tablecloth size that is close to the perfect fit. In this case,
you should determine what the drop would be for the selected cloth on
your table. Drops less than 5 inches are not recommended.
To Calculate What
the Drop Would Be for Rectangle - Oblong and Oval Tables:
Take the size of the selected tablecloth and subtract the size of
the table. Divide by 2.
Example for Both - If
the tablecloth you select measures 70 x 90 and your table measures
40x70, 70 minus 40 is 30. 30 divided by 2 is 15. 15 inches is your drop
for the ends of your table. For the sides, 90 minus 70 is 20, 20 divided
by 2 is 10. 10 inches is your drop on the sides of your table.
For Round and Square Tables:
Measure diameter. Important: Decide on the length of the desired drop.
The drop is the part of the tablecloth that hangs from the edge of the
table. Multiply the desired drop by 2. This measurement must be added to
the diameter of your table measurement If you want an 8" drop, add 16"
to the diameter measurement of your table. This is your tablecloth size.
If you want a 15" formal drop, add 30" to the diameter measurement of
your table. This is your tablecloth size. It is not improper for the
drop to touch chairs. The longer the drop, the more formal the setting.

Example for Round - If
the tablecloth you select measures 72 round and your round table
diameter is 48, 72 minus 48 is 24. 24 divided by 2 is 12. 12 inches is
your drop all around.
Example for Square -
If the tablecloth you select measures 58 square and your square
table diameter is 36, 58 minus 36 is 24. 24 divided by 2 is 12. 12
inches is your drop all around
